March 1, 2014: Seattle performer, Shoko Zama, joined forces with musicians, Larry Lawson (shakuhachi), and Chigusa Kitai,  (koto) to create a unique tea atmosphere. Guests selected other-worldly headpieces by Belle McCluskey of Boring Sidney (Bothell) to don during this midnight ritual at the Taoist Studies Institute.

At this "Stars of Seattle" event, local art celebrities, like Amber Flame (poet/performer), Evan Flory-Barnes (musician), Joan Laage (butoh), and Zoe Scoefield (movement), were given roles and assignments involving writing, performing, singing, and dancing, to complete. Using empty egg shells, party streamers, and tiny teacups, we called forth spring.

This 3-hr-long,collaborative experiment in Genuine Encounter was captured for the first time by Craig Blum (below), Elliot Solomon, and Mukul Soman of Somanmateo Photography. Midnight tea, veteran, Zac Buschmohle, captured video of the 12 guests co-creating this rebirthing: birth ritual with featured artists.

The Taoist Studies Institute in Seattle hosted it's second Midnight Tea ritual (see footage from the SUMMER TEA in June 2013 here).

The SPRING TEA was the 35th Midnight Tea ritual held since the project began in 2008. Blue lotus, lavender, and high mountain oolong teas were served.
